Hunger Solutions reported that Minnesotans made 3,281,389 visits to community food shelves in 2015. That is over 9,000 visits every day. This marks the 5th consecutive year of over 3 million visits to food shelves in our state. Has this become the new normal? Even with our state’s above average prosperity, employment and incomes, many of our neighbors struggle with food insecurity.
2015 was another year of increased volume at CCEFS. We served 6,300 households at our Woodbury location which is 5% increase over 2014. Across all our programs, we distributed nearly 560,000 pounds of food and personal care items to 6,900 households or 24,300 individuals.
